"I Don't Want To Be" - Gavin DeGraw
I don't need to be anything other
Than a prison guard's son
I don't need to be anything other
Than a specialist's son
I don't have to be anyone other
Than the birth of two souls in one
Part of where I'm going, is knowing where I'm coming from
[Chorus:]
I don't want to be
Anything other than what I've been trying to be lately
All I have to do
Is think of me and I have peace of mind
I'm tired of looking 'round rooms
Wondering what I've got to do
Or who I'm supposed to be
I don't want to be anything other than me
I'm surrounded by liars everywhere I turn
I'm surrounded by imposters everywhere I turn
I'm surrounded by identity crisis everywhere I turn
Am I the only one who noticed?
I can't be the only one who's learned!
[Chorus]
Can I have everyone's attention please?
If you're not like this and that, you're gonna have to leave
I came from the mountain
The crust of creation
My whole situation-made from clay to stone
And now I'm telling everybody
[Chorus]
I don't want to be [x4]
My thoughts, my fears, my frustrations, my loves .. my life .... take it or leave it .. this is me ..
Slinking to my goal ...

Pencil and ink drawings ..
My sister had these pictures done by this lady ..http://purplevibrations.blogspot.com/
The first picture is a artists impression of Mum and Dad's wedding photo - we gave this to them for their 40th wedding anniversary.
This is what she wrote on her blog
"This piece is a second commission for a lady who is celebrating her parent's wedding anniversary. I didn't want it to look just like a photo so have incorporated the ink to give it that personalised 'Sarah' touch. Working on such a small scale was a little intense at times but altogether good fun and I'm very pleased with the result."
This is the present that my sister gave her son for his birthday .. it has such a great likeness to him .. seeing this picture is what made us decide to have Mum and Dad's done ..
This is what she wrote about it -
"Being asked to do a piece of artwork to mark an occasion is always special. When I was approached to produce a birthday present for a boy turning seventeen, I accepted the challenge. Fortunately, the recipient was a keen guitarist so the subject matter was simple. I decided to give the drawing a serious rather than comical tone which was in keeping with his passion, and chose pencil and ink to add an element of simplicity. By using pencil on the hands and face, I was able to capture a life-like quality. Sometimes experimenting is the only way. Both Mum and Son were pleased with the final results. "
They are both pretty good huh?
