A little girls fight for life ..

I stumbled across this little girls journey on a EBB last month ..

I have a number of friends who have children battling against this terrible disease ...

I remember when we were last up in Auckland for Cam's last major surgery and I met a Mum who's daughter was diagnosed 2 weeks before we had met her .. she also had this type of cancer Neuroblastoma ..

.. her daughter had one of rarest forms and it was in her a part of her anatomy that they had not seen before ..

.. when we left after 6 weeks she was still in the midst of all the treatments ..

.. and a few weeks after getting home we found out that a week after getting home .. as she had gone in to remission ..

..that the cancer had returned and she had passed away ..

..everytime I hear of any child/teenager  getting a diagnosis I think of her Mum ...

.. and the poignant but amazing speech she made at the Volunteer night at RMH ..

Kyah's fight against this terrible disease has touched many ...

.. it has been quite public in that her family started an online journal ..Kyahs Journal

.. not that they intended it this way
.. but so many began reading and commenting and sharing this incredible little girls fight ...
.. and so it continued that many in NZ and the world have followed her parents frank, but honest portrayal of their life following the diagnosis ...

This is how the journal begins ...

Friday 6th July ..

When your entire life is turned upside down in a matter of minutes, how do you put that into words?
Friday 6th June, 2007 will forever be etched into our memory  - the day we found out Kyah had a mass in and around her stomach, around her kidney and a separate lump in her neck.

This journal has been created for friends and family to travel alongside us as we prepare for what may be the biggest battle of Kyah's life. We will update it as often as possible and encourage you to comment as it will be saved for her to read when she's older (and 100% better!) and realises just how much of a scare she's given us!

Sadly she is coming towards the end of her journey ....

This is the most recent journal entry after a less than promising entry the day before ...
Friday 14th November ..

She did it - 500 days! What a journey! Today needed to be acknowledged :o)
Kyah is still sleeping peacefully and following her own agenda.
